A bark before we start ?
The Peggy and Catinka series is based upon the imaginative adventures of a real-life pair of dogs who share our lives in South Africa ? Peggy, a young Beagle whose energy knows no limits and Catinka, our ever-affectionate Pomeranian.
They have two very different personalities ? when Catinka wants to play; Peggy wants to sleep. Catinka lives in peace with our flower beds whilst Peggy seems to be engaged in a never-ending war against them. Peggy seems to eat like a horse; Catinka like a eats horsefly. What they have in common though, is that we love them both dearly!
Our aim in writing these stories was to share with you many of the joys and laughs these two dogs share with us. Their energy, sense of adventure, loyalty and curiosity inspired these tales. We also drew on our memories from childhood in which we enjoyed reading and being challenged by books that exposed us to adventures, mystery stories and more sophisticated vocabularies ? hence the reason for the writing style we adopted. To make sure though that we kept on the right track, we also asked teachers to read these books and give us their insight and guidance ? rest assured, a lot of thinking went into each page!
Read these stories with an open imagination and you will soon hear their barking in the background!
And yes, our book has been translated into Afrikaans!
